A Scenic Walk Around 'The Netherton'

'The Netherton' is the colloquial term for the approximately five mile walk that starts at one end of Dalrymple, winds its way along scenic country roads, fields and hills, past Netherton farm and finally circles back to the other end of the village. My husband and I took this walk one balmy Sunday in May 2015. We took the route heading out the village towards Hollybush and coming back into the village over the old stone bridge that crosses the River Doon. Here's the photos I took with my iphone of the scenery as we went along .

The 'wee burn' on Barbiston Road - the pride of Dalrymple and also a handy recycling spot.

In fact, there is a lot to see on route just in case the scenery gets a bit boring.

The 'wood on the hill'.

A favorite local picnic spot - the 'empties' are a nice addition.

There's loads of handy wee spots for dumping rubbish of all kinds....

...and then there's some really lovely scenery nestling amongst the discarded detritus.

A panoramic view
